Surf Scoters A massive flock of surf scoters was assembling off Second Beach in Stanley Park. The whistling sound made by the scoters in flight could be clearly heard from the shore. Each surf scoter immediately after landing raised its wings over its body before folding them into a resting position. Even at a distance, this characteristic behaviour helped to identify the birds as surf scoters.       Field Guide Entry: Surf Scoters
