About the Site

Stanley Park's Natural History Observatory

This is the first on-line resource that attempts to provide a comprehensive 'look' at the natural history of Stanley Park. The site is designed to bring together the tools and resources of digital technology with the practices of the field-naturalist to present an ecosystem based view of Stanley Park. Ultimately, the site will provide users with:

a comprehensive biophysical inventory
a mapping system
monitoring tools and projects
opportunities for community involvement and participation

The site is designed to be accessible to a wide spectrum of users - to students and teachers, the general public, naturalists, birdwatchers, park managers and caretakers, and Vancouver Park Board's elected officials.

It is intended to provide information in a useful and meaningful form.
