Gray Squirrel Gray squirrlels have made themselves very much at home in Stanley Park, and well beyond after being presented as a gift to the City of Vancouver in 1947. These squirrels remain active year round foraging on whatever they can find to eat which includes fruits, seeds, insects and other small animals - as well as handouts. Their population has exploded. Be aware! Most reported animal bites are squirrel bites. Keep in mind that these are still wild animals and they have long, sharp, incisors. They are cute but not cuddly. Squirrels also play host to ticks. Dog owners should be aware of keeping their pets on leash and out of gray squirrel habitat. Field Guide Entry: Gray Squirrel |
