Canada Goose Not long after hatching the parents lead the goslings from the nest and take them to a safe brood-rearing area. Young goslings grow rapidly and their yellow down coats soon begin to darken and turn a dull grey. At this time of year goose families are a common sight in Stanley Park. One or more families with young of different ages can usually be seen wherever there is grass to be grazed. Goose families like this one feed mostly on land and the young are quite capable of feeding themselves. Good communication is important in protecting and keeping the family group together. The adults use a variety of calls to communicate to the goslings. Goslings use - greeting peeps, a variety of distress calls, and high pitched trills when they are content.
