Adult shows a dark ring around the the bill behind the light-colored tip
Dark throat path

 
Immature shows dark markings on white cheek.

Habitat: Freshwater
Prefers shallow freshwater but may be found in saltwater
Possible resident on Beaver Lake.
Occassionally seen on Lost Lagoon during the fall-winter months.
Juvenile sighted on Lost Lagoon Oct. 31, 2000

Present throughout the year
Numbers may increase in the winter months (Sept-April) with the arrival of birds from the Interior lakes
