In Stanley Park
The most common species of large dragonfly around vegetated areas of Lost Lagoon and Beaver Lake
Males most often seen as they defend a temporary territory along the water's edge.

Blue eyes and light blue face
Thin dark line often present
Blue stripes on sides of brown thorax
Long slender abdomen tipped with two pairs of appendages
Aeshna multicolor top view Back view of adult required
Dark T-spot on the front of the head
Large eyes touch each other along the top of the head
At rest the two pairs of wings are held straight out at right angles from body
